ABOUT

Drive is a three-day conference for church leaders who are constantly shifting gears to keep up with the demands of ministry. At Drive 2015, you will have an opportunity to attend breakout sessions on each area of our ministry model. You will learn about the principles we utilize when facing challenges like leading volunteers, maintaining a healthy staff culture in a multi-site organization, and much more.

In addition to the learning opportunities offered in the breakout sessions, you will hear Andy's latest thoughts on leadership in the main sessions. You’ll network, have fun, and worship with over two thousand other leaders from around the world.   Hopefully, you'll leave Drive 2015 knowing you aren't alone on the road.

DRIVE... because we're not there yet!

Be Rich

What if you could both inspire extraordinary generosity in your congregation and grow your church’s influence in your community? Be Rich, our annual giving and serving campaign, has done just that for us, and we’ll share the why, what, and how behind our efforts.

Being a Church That Unchurched People Love To Attend

There’s a big difference between a “church for the unchurched” and a “church unchurched people love to attend.” Finding the balance can be tough, but it’s worth the effort, because the church is fulfilled best in the context of both reaching and growing all the people in our communities. In this breakout, we’ll share our best practices for achieving this balance.

Developing a Family Ministry Multisite Strategy

Trying to keep your family ministry departments on the same page when they are leading at different church locations can be a challenge. We have found a few critical areas where we must be on the same page. Also, in order for a multisite strategy to be successful, there are many decisions that must be made keeping in mind the dynamics of each location. In this breakout, we will share what we have learned so far about leading great teams and creating consistent environments at every church.

Leveraging Social Media

Our church services allow us to connect with people for one hour every week. Through social media, we can stay connected for the other 167 hours. Find out how we leverage social media to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

Rethinking Church Membership: Creating a Process that Prioritizes Engagement over Membership

“Membership” is a loaded concept. It assumes a set of rights that are only available for its members. In a church context, it also carries a lot of baggage. The term can actually hinder the people in your church from engaging with your church. Join us as we discuss a new system for vetting leaders that prioritizes active engagement over passive membership.

Student Ministry Model

Our approach to ministry for students is two-fold: large groups and small groups. We’ll talk about the crazy games, live worship, special events and messages geared for students, as well as what it takes to establish successful small groups. We’ll also talk about the significant role of the leaders who connect with our students in our small groups.

Tensions That Arise in a Multisite Model

What are the circumstances in which we require our campuses to be uniform? What are the circumstances in which we allow more innovation? Come hear about the tensions we experience weekly and what we have learned while trying to find a balance between autonomy and a prescribed church model.

The Guest Experience

Like most thriving churches, we’ve always placed a high value on the “Guest Experience.” In recent years, we realized this area had been neglected and was in need of an upgrade. After studying a few other great churches and learning from some world-class organizations, we’ve taken a new approach. In this breakout, we’ll pass on the remarkable results we’ve seen.

The Volunteer Experience

Every week there is an incredible work force of people that shows up in all of our churches. We know we couldn’t survive without them. How do we create the best possible experience for these volunteers, while fueling their passion to make a difference in the lives of others?

A Typical Sunday Morning for Kids Ministry

Hundreds of kids pour into our elementary environment every Sunday, and we work hard to make it the best hour of their week! On the outside, we hope our environment is super-fun and inviting. Behind the scenes, there are tons of systems running to make sure our environment is safe and efficient. In this breakout, we will walk you through a typical Sunday morning from drop-off to pick-up.

Building a Team

At some point in the life of every ministry, there comes a time to expand your staff team. The people you choose are more important than the system you use. So, how do you find and hire the right people? In this breakout, we’ll share what we’ve learned about building healthy, effective teams.

Creating Next Steps for Students to Engage and Grow

We all know that leading students into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ takes more than a great event or special moment. It requires a sustained effort and strategy. What do you do once students accept Christ? How do you get believers to go deeper in their relationship with Jesus? How do you get juniors and seniors to move from spectators to leaders? In this breakout, we'll cover how to keep your students engaged and growing no matter where they are in their faith.

Keystone Habits

Discovering and focusing on a few keystone habits has the power to bring about significant change in your organization. In this breakout, we’ll share the keystone habits that NPM has adopted and why they were chosen for our organization.

KidMin Parent Strategy

One of the best ways to increase our ability to lead children into a growing relationship with Jesus is to harness the influence of parents. We are with the kids one hour a week, and their parents are with them all day, every day. In this breakout, we'll share our strategy for partnering with parents to give them the tools to help them talk with their kids about wisdom, faith, and friendship.

Lead Pastor Essentials

So much to do and so little time. Is this where you find yourself as a lead pastor? How should you be spending your time? What are some creative ways to leverage a smaller staff to get more done? In this breakout, we’ll hear about leadership essentials from a lead pastor with over a decade of experience in launching and growing a local church.

Spiritual Growth Strategy

Leading people to Jesus Christ and then helping them grow in their faith—it’s why we got into church work in the first place. At North Point, we’ve always believed small groups are the best way to do this. But do they really work? How do we know? In this breakout, we’ll share the assumptions, convictions, and theology that have convinced us that to grow spiritually, we must be connected relationally. We’ll also discuss how this perspective has matured over time.

The Best Team You’ve Ever Led

Develop the team everyone wants to be on. In this breakout, we will introduce a new mindset and process for developing a high-capacity team of fully engaged individuals.

The Sunday Worship Experience

In this breakout, we’ll share our system of putting together an engaging worship experience from opening song to closing prayer and everything in-between.

A System for Care

There are times when the members of our small groups, people in our church, and neighbors in our community face heartbreaking circumstances that are beyond the ability of the average group leader or staff member to deal with. Helping people navigate and recover from those intense challenges can feel overwhelming. In this session, we’ll talk about how we’ve been able to leverage those circumstances for life change.

A Typical Sunday Morning for Preschool Ministry

Hundreds of preschoolers and their parents pour into our environment every Sunday. We work hard to make sure it feels safe, clean, and super-inviting for both kids and parents. We want parents to trust us and know that their children will be well cared for and will have a great time. In this breakout, we will walk you through a typical Sunday morning from drop-off to pick-up.

How can you walk alongside someone when you suspect he or she may not be a good fit? What is our responsibility as the church in these situations? Join us as we share some of our best practices on maintaining great relationships while determining whether the employees will stay or go.

Parent Strategy for Student Ministry

All too often, student pastors underestimate the value of partnering with parents to achieve goals with students. We sure did! In the breakout, we will discuss what we have learned through defeats and victories as we begin to truly understand the power of a student/parent strategy.

Revving Up Your Growth Engine

Has your church ever experienced a lull in attendance? Do you ever feel like you might be hosting the exact same attendees as the Sunday before? In this breakout, we’ll share our strategies for creating momentum and outreach opportunities that have made it easier to invite outsiders to participate in our environments.

The Creative Magic of Kidmin

When children and parents walk through our doors, we hope we have created a place that leaves them saying WOW! We believe that the Bible should never be boring, that fun is the name of the game. Connecting and Growing Men: A Strategic Step to Community

Men—whether single or married—are notoriously difficult to reach. But the axiom holds true: if you get the man, you get the marriage, the family, the marketplace, and the church. In this breakout, we'll share everything we're learning about how to connect, challenge, and develop men.

Creating An Effective Student Ministry on a Budget

Our strategic partner churches have taught us that student environments can be executed with excellence at any size, shape, and budget. In this breakout, we’ll share tools and practices used by some these resourceful student teams.

Creating Next Steps for Kids New to Faith

Nothing is more exciting for a children’s ministry leader than to see a child enter into a personal relationship with Jesus. In this breakout, we’ll share the vision and step-by-step plans of action for two environments we have created to help kids take next steps in their faith and to understand baptism.

Engaging the Culture

We live in a culture. We want to engage it. How do we do so and keep our beliefs and reputations intact? How can we have influence with unchurched people without compromising relationships or our positions in the church? In this breakout, we’ll share some thoughts on managing the tensions created when we step out and engage our culture.

Finding Your Voices

Engaging, effective communication is essential in all of our ministry environments. With so many other responsibilities, how do you continue to hone your communication skills? Who are the best people on your team to speak for your environments? Come hear one of our most-experienced communicators on how we develop talent throughout the organization.

Fostering Together

Fostering Together was created as a way for the local church to care for foster families so they could give exceptional care to the children they bring into their homes. Since it’s inception, this program has improved results for our local foster families, the children in their care, and the birth families. In this breakout, we will share how Fostering Together allows the local church to care for foster families.

Funding the Local Church

A generous church will not happen by accident. In this breakout, we will share what we’ve learned over the last twenty years about preaching on the topics of generosity, fostering a culture of generosity, developing vision-based capital campaigns, and building relationships with key donors. If your vision outpaces your funding, this breakout is for you!

How To Have Difficult Conversations

Every leader faces them, but most do anything to avoid them—difficult conversations. Whether they are with coworkers, volunteers, or church attendees, these conversations are an unavoidable reality of leadership. In this session, we will examine the anatomy of these conversations and discover the variables that are key to handling them effectively. In addition, we’ll share the practical tools and approaches we use.

The Art of Delegation

No leader wants an organization that’s small enough to be managed alone, yet leaders consistently fail to do the one thing that unleashes growth—delegate. Without delegation, leadership development suffers, you suffer, and the organization is restrained by your capacity. But delegation is more art than science. In this breakout, we will study the art of delegation while providing clear tips to make it work for any size structure.
